While I was rummaging through my jazz collection as of late, one particular song caught my attention although one can't really think of it as a song since it's instrumental. It is titled Alone Together by Chet Baker, who was arguably one of the greatest jazz musicians we know to date. Well at least in my book he was, but then again I'm no true connaisseur either.Because I'm no hardcore aficionado of all things jazzy and of all the relevant bits and pieces about his life and music, I can't provide amazing new insights in his life or music. That is why I'm afraid the good ole Wikipedia provides us once again with basal info on his persona. One of the conspicuous aspects is that he was a drug addict quite early on in his career, and he even got mugged while looking for a fix after a concert. In the process he lost his front teeth, and needless to say, that interrupted his career quite a bit.
But enough blathering about tedious details :)
The reason I'm posting it here is because the music sounds so very soothing and has such a silky feel to the ear that this song is perfect for a nightly drink, let's say some pure pot still Jameson whiskey in addition to a cigar ... rambling through the night about whatever comes to mind. Sadly I lack the talent of eloquently expressing this athmosphere in a more refined and structured manner, so alas: all I can say is check out the vid I flinged on teh vast and mighty internets and it will all become as clear as an azure sky of deepest summer (God I love Alex, Nadsat, Kubrick and this timeless quote even more!!)
